Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving dinner was at our house yesterday.  Everyone was bringing food.  I baked a turkey and also the stuffing, a ham and a couple of pies (pecan and pumpkin).  The Grabers always have more than enough food!  Our sisters-in-laws are great cooks!
It was a warm day!

We had the windows open most of the day and into the evening.  It was in the 70's.  It did not seem like November!
We enjoy these snacky foods!

Aunt Millie gave me this leaf candy dish for my birthday one year.  Perfect for chocolates!

The clan arrived from Little River, Lyons and Pretty Prairie.
Loving my Old Mennonite table that has 12 leaves!
 Enjoying family time

Jill's family spent the night so they could visit longer after the girls were in bed.  This morning the girls were ready to  help us "take down Thanksgiving" and begin decorating for  the  Christmas holidays.

They were anxious to help me put up the Christmas tree. Due to a couple of the family members having allergies to real trees, we use artificial. I really do like our artificial one. It looks pretty real. I found out that if I string the lights as we add the layers, it is easier.

Claire and Papa enjoyed watching the activity.

So long Thanksgiving!

Grandparent's Day

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day at our grandchildren's school.  I took my parents along.  The program was a combination of Thanksgiving and thanking God for grandparents (and great-grandparents!).

It was Sophia's very first program.  I believe she was just a tad bit nervous.  (wonder if Anna has a loose tooth?)

But she was attentive to her teacher.

A pair of "grandparents"

After the program we went to the kid's classrooms.

This little man is just so cute!  He was visiting his big sister's class.

 As was this little boy.

The kids showed us their artwork.

Being a Grandma is just the BEST!!

Adam's birthday

Our son-in-law had his birthday this past week.

My mom put together a creative birthday pie for him. It was the tollhouse pie from Bread Basket topped with Adam's favorite candy bars.

The girls kept blowing out the candle before Adam could even try, so here he is holding them at bay!

 Adam really likes Norm's!

(a strawberry pie for Mindy and bananas for Claire)

And of course, Adam loves the Green Bay Packers!

and Pepsi (his favorite pop) along with cash is just fine too!

Adam is a man of God.
He LOVES the Lord and his life reflects it!
And he loves his family.
He is a gift to us.  A wonderful son-in-law!

Happy 33rd Birthday!

Sophia's decoration for her daddy's birthday.  You might be able to pick out "Hppe brthdae Dad.  I heart everyone!"

(and Hannah's design too.  the taking off of these window crayons not much fun, but the kids LOVE to do color with them!)

November restaurant pick

We are on the 11th month of trying out new restaurants (one each month).  This past week we invited our friends, Dave and Marilyn, and Dave's dad, Elmer to go out with us.  They suggested :

They had never tried this one here in Wichita, but had eaten at a Shorty Small's in Branson.

A little unique kind of place.

The menus were on a newspaper.
Pulled pork, shrimp and chicken alfredo were the items we ordered.

In the past few years, Elmer has translated the Bible into Low German, or Plautdietsch, as well as the Through the Bible radio program.  It has brought many people to Christ!

Our meal was very delcious, and the company wonderful!  We talked almost non-stop all evening and had our share of laughs.  Elmer told us about dust bowl days back in his childhood.  We treasure our friendship with this very special couple and with Elmer.  So grateful for God's guiding Dave to pastor our church many years ago and we are excited to be a part of the "family" with them!
