Bookend Trip

We just returned from a trip to Wisconsin that was "bookended" by visits with a couple of our siblings.  On our way up there, we stopped in Leawood to see my oldest brother, David and his wife, Linda and their dog, Nikki.

We were curious about these painted golf balls -evidently their neighbor has been placing them there.

after Dave began stacking lost golf balls on their yard.

Linda served her famous spinach quiche.  I have made it often and always get requests for the recipe!

1 lb. fresh spinach, cooked and drained (or you could use frozen)
1/2 c. chopped green onion
1 clove garlic
2 T. butter
Saute.
Add:
1 1/2 c. shredded Swiss cheese
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. milk
salt, basil and celery salt to taste
Pour into 9" pie crust shell.  Arrange sliced tomatoes around the edges.  Bake 425 ⁰.

We spent the week with our daughter and 3 granddaughters, then on our way home from Wisconsin, stopped in Lawrence to see Al's sister, Julie.  From her front porch, we saw a beautiful rainbow!

We decided to go to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.
Did you know the walls of each Texas Roadhouse are adorned with murals that are created specifically for each restaurant? The paintings are designed to reflect the local community.
Here is the mural that was up at this Texas Roadhouse; people key to Lawrence, Kansas.

We tried to figure out who these guys were:

Wilt Chamberlain, basketball player who played for KU
John  Allen Wakefield?   American historian, politician, soldier, physician, and lawyer who took part in Bleeding Kansas events.  I'm not sure about that.
Do not know who the other historical character is.  Anyone know?  We asked the manager and several of the waiters/waitresses, but no one knew. Seems like there should be a list of who they are.
Kareem Abdul Jabbar, basketball player, who played for KU
James Naismith, who invented the game of basketball at age 30 in 1891. He wrote the original basketball rule book and founded the University of Kansas basketball program.
Phog Allen, basketball coach for KU
Bill Self, basketball coach for KU
