A goal we have had for our grandchildren is to take each one on some kind of trip that will teach them about the Christian world-view; one that will draw them closer to Jesus!
In 2016 I took our oldest granddaughter Hannah to Haiti, where we worked at Maranatha Children's Home.
In 2020, we were going to take the next grandchild, Sophia on her trip. She and her cousin, Emeri, are the same age and they asked that they could go on a trip to together.
So we made plans to take them both to Japan where I grew up. Tickets were purchased. But then, COVID. And lock-downs. Ugh.
We were so disappointed. Because we couldn't go overseas, we had them get together for a week. They live a distance of 12 hours apart.
I picked Emeri up and we drove to Wisconsin and then we came back to Kansas. What a good time we had!
We kept waiting for Japan to open up, but in the end the Lord worked it out that we would go to Romania instead. Since we all live in various states, we did a couple of zoom calls (a product of the pandemic for us) to make sure we were all on the same page with planning.
