Kansas Adventures, August; Part 3

When we were at the Botanica, we gave the children each a penny to throw into the wishing well. Hannah would not tell us what she wished for "I can't tell you!", but Sophia said "I was making a wish that you would take us to McDonald's for lunch!" Wishes come true with Nanas and Papas!
For the last part of our adventure, we took a stroll down Douglas in Wichita. There are some wonderful sculptures - 31 in all!

"We would like 2 chocolate shakes and hamburgers, please"

Big sculptures and small ones. We didn't see the lizard or swallow on planters or a skunk or hawk. We will have to go back another time to try to find more!

We are from a small town, no apologies, so these sky scrapers wowed the girls! Our downtown has 2-story buildings.

What a fun day we adventuring in Wichita, KS!

  1. It's amazing what grandparents do...Luke always seems to get "Sonic" or "Pizza Hut" out of my parents :) Too funny....

  2. What a fun day! We loved the Botanica when we went with my parents a couple of weeks ago. How special that the girls live close and you can all share in the fun!

  4. I love the outdoor sculptures downtown. And if you go in the Bank IV building (that's its name from when I was working downtown many years ago) I believe there is an Alexander Calder mobile there.

I want to take Anna downtown to see those, but waiting for more pleasant temperatures. I love the little park between the buildings near Douglas and Main, too.

  5. Love your pictures. My goodness, Hannah looks more like Jill every year. So much joy in unexpected places.

  6. People say there's nothing to do in Wichita. Fine Job pointing out some of the neat things here in town.

  7. I've always loved Douglas Street in Wichita... the woman pointing and the baby cow sniffing at the duckies are my favorite sculpures. I need to take my own grandkids to Botanica for a fun day. Been too long since I was there myself!
