Pumpkins for animals

Before our kids went back to Colorado, we were invited to a farm of a friend of ours at church.  I had seen a Facebook post that Carmen had posted, saying that they would like any pumpkins we were getting rid of after Thanksgiving for the animals on their farm!

After church, we drove out to their farm, with 12 pumpkins of all sizes!

"Look, Kaia!  Do you see the geese?"

We first gave some pumpkins to these pigs.  Carmen told us that pumpkin seeds are natural de-wormers.

"We want some too!"

Here is their turkey, who has been pardoned for some years.

Carmen pulled the wagon full of our pumpkins to the barn.

Carmen explained to us about how we would need to break the pumpkins open on a post before throwing it to them.

"HI!" Kaia greeted the goats loudly!
So stinking cute!

Papa showed the girls how you feed the horse.  Palms flat.

Kaia tried, but Tenley was not about to!

The goats were all excited for their treat!

Carmen had Mangalitsa pigs, a rare Hungarian pig breed, known for its thick, curly coat.  Carmen said the meat is supposedly very delicious.  The name translates to "hog with a lot of lard".  They love pumpkins!

Kitties don't want pumpkins though.
But they like being petted!

Tenley was a little "shy" around the animals.

She preferred the swing.

The horses and donkeys were excited to run out side their pen!
They ran around and around!

Whee!  The horse was jumping high in the air!

Thank you so much, Jason and Carmen, for letting us come visit your animals!

The kids have gone home, but it won't be long before ALL of the family plans to come visit!!  After all, there is a special celebration later this month!  Our Christmas decorations are all out. Christmas cards are being signed.  I have begun planning meals and thinking about where everyone will sleep!

Soon we will have a celebration for the day of Christ's birth, the day He became one of us!

Birthday party, singing and playing, donuts and Christmas lights

While they were here for Thanksgiving, we had a delightful time with our grandchildren (and Mindy and Jason too).

We had a certain 2-year-old's birthday to celebrate!

Happy birthday to you Kaia!

I had ordered a book entitled "ABC's with Kaia".  Her picture was included in the pages.  Her photo was on the astronaut's face or fireman's face, for example.  Or if her picture wasn't included, it would say things like "How many spots does a ladybug have, Kaia?"    Kaia loved HER book!

                                        "That's me!"

The girls enjoyed playing the piano and singing.

We read lots of books!

Nani told them the story of creation from Genesis.

We played hide n seek.  "Daddy won't find us in the shower!"

He did.  "Let's hide in the closet!"  Found again.  Daddy is a good finder.

We played house.

 Wrestling with Papa!

Tenley enjoys doing puzzles

We ran to Drubers!

Jason helped Papa put up Christmas lights.

And Papa helped Jason with a car fix.

We also went to a special farm - another post.....
