Remembering Mom

Today my mother would have been 89 years old.

I don't guess they celebrate birthdays in heaven - 

maybe they celebrate their arrival day?  Dec. 15 of last year?

I know she is loving it there with Jesus and with the ones she loves!

My daughter suggested that we spend the day in remembering her.  

So we went to Mojo's for a little breakfast first.

I HAD to try a Grandma cookie!  Oh my goodness.  Soooo scrumptious.

Or maybe I should say "So tremendous!"  That was Mom's word!

 Next we went on a trail that Grandma took the girls on at times.

 Onbu - Japanese word for piggyback.
It is so much easier to carry babies on your back than on your side!

Even though we sprayed, the trail had lots of mosquitoes

 that were attacking us!

 Jill and Claire were shooing them off!

 There are 5 horses that come right up to the fence.

 

 

 

 

Bye-bye horsies!

We hurried through the mosquito infested woods and went to see Grandpa Pete.

There was a cookie bouquet for Father's Day from my brother and his wife in the room.  Linda had told us that the girls should help themselves to one of the cookies.  Thank you, Grandpa for sharing!

Of course we had to stop to see the birdies!
 

Next we went to Wendy's, because that was one of my mother's favorite places!

 She especially loved their Frosty's so of course we had to have those too!!

The girls had to go back home, but I went on another mission.
In memory of my mother, I purchased flowers for several of her close friends and delivered them.

Look what I saw while delivering them.

I have never seen a water tower being painted before and found it quite intriguing that they use paint rollers!

Happy birthday, Mom!!
             Miss you!

A happy day for Papas, potato guns and pool time!

 For Father's Day, my brother and his wife came from Kansas City along with Gracie.  Jill's family also came.  Claire was a little hesitant about Gracie at first.

We got out the potato gun.

We may have been having some target practice.....

We didn't actually hit them.  Mostly the potatoes went into the lake, but one did get kind of close and the geese took off running.

Al went to pick up Dad from the home.

He enjoyed being outside!

Dave and Linda showed the older girls how the new Apple phone watch works.

They want to save money for their own!

Adam, the grill master, working on brats and chicken!  Thank you, Adam!! 

 Claire showed us some dance moves.  She likes to hold up her arm like a ballet dancer.

 What a great day for Papas, potato guns and time in the pool!

Little fish!

Our granddaughters are on a swim team in their town and last week we got to go to one of their swim meets.  

  The drive there is always beautiful!  

The clouds were looking dark and we could see rain - again.  We have had lots and lots of rain.  The farmers haven't been able to get out to harvest.

When we got there, Hannah was about to begin her first race.  

Sophia was running around with her team mates, waiting for them to call her number.

As the number for their race is called over the intercom, if they've forgotten what number they are, there it is, right on their arm!

Hannah had just spent a week at camp and was pretty tired, but she was a champ and did a great job!

  Claire and Mommy were encouraging Hannah.  "Go, Hannah, Go!"

After the race, Emma was so excited for her and letting her know how great she did!

 Between the races for the girls, the families hang out.




Mom brings along activities and food to enjoy.  It is such a fun family time!

During the race, little Claire wanted to play in the water.

"No" Daddy tells her.

 The girls both placed 1st in a few events and also placed high in others.  They are just loving swim team!

The drive home was just beautiful!   I love the Kansas countryside!
Al and I were saying we are so glad not to live in a big metropolis!

 I love this farmstead!  The barn is built out of limestone that is in this area.

 Our son sent some pictures of their kids, who are taking swim lessons in Arkansas.

They are little fish too!
