A wedding "reception"

Mindy and Jason had a private marriage "elopement" ceremony at a mountain destination.  They both love to mountain climb so it was perfect for them!

The photographer was Maddie Mae Photography.  Incredible photography!

Before the wedding reception, our other daughter, Jill called the photographer to ask her for the coordinates of mountain where they got married as she wanted to make a gift using them.  The photographer sent her the coordinates.   Being curious, Jill looked them up and they were the coordinates for the hotel in downtown Denver.  What??  She wrote her back and told her that she was sure she was given the wrong coordinates but the reply was that they were correct.  Jill questioned her again saying she wanted the coordinates of where they actually said their vows.  At that point, the photographer went to Mindy and said that someone was bugging her for the coordinates and asked what to do.  She ended up replying that when she asked Mindy which coordinates to include in their wedding album, they chose the reception sight as that was a special place where they would be with family and friends.  At this point, Jill almost decided to give a different gift, but I suggested she do it anyway.  (I also wondered if maybe the photographer didn't want people to know specific places where she did her shoots.)

Here is the gift Jill ordered for Mindy.  I love it!

Not knowing the real coordinates of the wedding spot sort of fit with the sign on our hotel room door.

You are where??
Isn't there supposed to be a map?

The reception was held in downtown Denver at a later date to which family and friends were invited.  It was on the 27th floor overlooking the city.

After everyone arrived, there was a lot of mingling and talking.  Then Jason and Mindy welcomed everyone and then announced that although they had done a photo shoot on the mountain, they did NOT get married on the mountain.  (insert audible GASP!)

They secretly planned to do the actual vows with family and friends!!!!!

To say we were shocked, surprised and happy about it is an understatement!

Jason's mother - how sweet!

Sisters

Jamie, Mindy's friend since high school, made the wedding cake, kept the surprise - she was the only one who knew about it!! -  and did the photography of the ceremony that evening (that I've posted above)!  She is multi-talented!!   What a dear friend to Mindy!

The wording on the sign should have stopped after the word "wedding"! Tricky, tricky!

And no wonder the coordinates for Jill's gift were "off".  Except, now the coordinates WERE correct afterall, but the date was not, so Jill had a new one made!

What a wonderful surprise!!

Blessings to you, Jason and Mindy!

Before the wedding reception

The wedding reception was going to be in the evening so we had the day to explore.

See the window cleaner?

We had lunch at a park with Jason's family and some of Mindy and Jason's friends.

We went to Mount Falcon Park to do some hiking.

John Brisben Walker, (1847-1931) a magazine publisher and automobile businessman, built a house on Mt. Falcon in 1909.

The house was struck by lightning and destroyed in 1918.

This reminds me of Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.

We were so thirsty after the hike!  There was no water fountain around!  Our water bottles were empty.  We began driving down the mountain and found this place.

Not a McDonalds, but a MacNation!  We stopped for some wonderful, ice cool water!   Next time, we will try to remember to bring more water with us!
