Every year our Bible study does some kind of outing in December. We've gone to Hutch and McPherson to shop. Or Wichita. This year we decided to do something a little different. Instead of shopping, we would do some volunteer work.
World Impact is a non-denominational Christian missions organization in Wichita
which ministers to the urban poor. And today our Bible study took some donations there. They were needing workers so we had made plans to help out.
Dave gave us directions on how we could help.
Mary Ellen and I both love books so we chose to work and sort through boxes of books.
And we both found some books to purchase too!
Clothes that had been on the rack too long were taken down to be given to another organization that gives away clothing to the poor. All clothing at World Impact is $1.00. Quite a bargain!
We worked all morning and had such fun doing it!
Mary Ellen had made reservations for us to eat at La Galette French Bakery in the Delano district. They have quiche, soup, and fattoush salad, which comes with a crusty french roll and real butter. There are pastries, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, different kinds of cheese cakes, and tarts. It's all wonderful.
A great morning was had by all!!
