Galloway Village, LaClare Cheese, History Museum at the Castle

After dropping Sophia off at work one day, Claire and I decided to visit this historic homestead of a locally prominent family from the late 1800's and the historic structures brought in to create this little "village".

When the Galloways would ring for the servants,
the arrow that moved would show which room they were calling from.

Indoor plumbing

(My mother remembers when her father first installed one in their home.)

I took Claire to a park.

Upon returning to the car, realized my tire was going flat!

Crum.  Well, the next day was my last day with the girls, and we planned to go out of town.  We took Adam's car as I couldn't drive mine.  We took Kobi to the neighbor boy for the day then took off.

LaClare Cheese -  where goat cheese is processed.

Goat silo

When we were there, the goats were inside the silo, but sometimes they climb
on the outside of it!  I found this picture on-line.

Behind the scenes at the goat cheese-making opperation.

Being Saturday, the production line was not happening.

The girls played corn hole.

As we were getting ready to leave, Sophia saw a car with a Kansas tag pull into the parking lot.  Of course I had to go talk to them!  They were from Manhattan and visiting a brother.

We continued on toward Appleton on the east side of Lake Winnebago.  A nice, slow drive, compared to Highway 41 on the west side!

We stopped for lunch. Claire made up her own drink.  "This is GOOD!"

 Next destination:

History Museum at the Castle -

Houdini exhibition.

DaVinci exhibit

We went to the basement for another exhibition.

After a stop at Doughlicious, a dessert store (with edibile cookie dough!), we drove back home in a driving rain.  Adam and Jill returned from their trip just before we did!

That evening, we aired up my tire enough to run it to the store to get it temporarily fixed, so I could make it home.
