From Zion to Springfield

We left Zion going straight west on 173, avoiding Chicago.  A 2-lane road is so much less stressful than 8 lanes zooming and swerving 90mph, although my son-in-law loves that kind of driving!

Drove through towns with Biblical names like Antioch and Hebron.
Can you see the sign?
Authentic by nature - what does that mean exactly?

At Rockford, I happened to see some window cleaners cleaning hotel windows (not my picture - I missed it).  If they are cleaning windows, do they tell the people in the rooms so they can close the curtains?  Wouldn't it freak you out to see a window cleaner outside your hotel room???

Jumped onto 39 South to Normal/Blooomington, and 55 down to Springfield just as it was getting dark. We passed a sign for a town of Fancy Prairie.  Interesting name.  Sister town to Pretty Prairie (our home town)?  We decided to stop and see Lincoln's home.  He and his family lived here when he was a lawyer and then when he ran for the presidency.

We missed the tour as it closed at 4:30.

We drove to the cemetery where Lincoln is buried.

If you rub his nose, it is supposed to bring good luck.

We stopped in Jacksonville, Ill for the night.
