I thought it would be fun to ask the young moms from our Biblestudy at church to come over so their kids could have a play date and we could visit. Some of the moms were out of town on vacation and one had a dental appointment - they were missed!
I got our "coffeeshop" in the basement ready.
Recipe for waffle iron brownies at the end of this blog, for those who asked.
We got toys and playhouses ready.
The ladies came with their kids and what fun they all had!
In the fall, we are going to read and discuss this book.
It is the book that our church Mom2Mom group is going to be going through this year. Some of the chapters are:
How can God understand?
Can I please go to the bathroom alone?
Is there such a thing as uninterrupted sleep?
I'm dealing with disobedience around every corner!
I'm so tired
I'm disappointed
I need a break
We will study the book of Matthew and get fresh perspectives about leading our children and about walking the Christian life as moms. Looking forward to it! And for cooler weather too!

Waffle Iron Brownies
1/2 c. butter
1/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 c. granulated sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
1 T. water
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 t. salt
2/3 c. chopped walnuts
Preheat waffle iron to medium setting. Melt butter in a saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat. Blend cocoa into butter with a wooden spoon. Stir in sugar, eggs and water. Add flour and salt; beat well. Add nuts; mix thoroughly.
Into each section of the preheated waffle iron (I spray mine with cooking spray), drop 1 well-rounded tablespoon of batter. Close lid and bake about 1 1/2 minutes or until done. Cool on rack. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar if desired.
This recipe can be doubled - a good idea because these brownies disappear quickly!
