Packing up

Everyone thought this was the week to move.

My father, our daughter, Mindy, our daughter, Jill & family and Al's brother and wife.

We saw my Dad leave the hospital and settle in a room at healthcare.  He is close to Mom and she can just walk over to see him.  We are hoping that his health can improve and he can eventually move back.

Mindy moved this past week.  She hired it done, but we went to help with hanging up some curtains, pictures and a new shower head.  Her place is so lovely!  She has quite the eye for design I think!

Mindy is the Queen of moving.  She has it down to a science!  And like me, she wants to hang up pictures and curtains right away and not wait weeks to do it like some people do.

On Saturday when Adam and Jill were to move, the forecast said rain.  We thank the Lord that the sun shone until almost evening.  It was raining by the time we got home.

A whole group of dear friends came to help the kids pack up 4 trailers.  It took only an hour and 15 minutes!   Of course, Jill and Adam put in many hours packing up boxes before this move day.

The "littles" were great helpers too!

I wasn't there to help as I was at my house taking care of 2 little sick girls.  Yes, the youngest 2 got sick the night before the move.  Sophie felt better after a night's sleep, but she didn't want to go to see them move her house.  It was just too sad for her.

I sent my camera and instructed them to have someone take photos of the move!  When I saw this picture on the camera, I had to cry.  My husband and my daughter.  It's hard to see her move far away.  OK.  It isn't too far, but it is far for me.

Drubers donuts are the best anytime, but especially when one is working so hard!

Thanks to all who came to help the kids pack up the trailers!!  Next post - the welcome to the new house.

As for Al's brother, well, we are not omnipresent and we were not able to help them.  Hopefully they had good friends to help them too!

Last weekend

This is the kids' last week in town.
I don't think it will really sink in until after they move away.
I have a feeling I am going to have some lonely days.

On this last weekend for them in town, Hannah called me and asked if we could go garage sale-ing.  I LOVE to garage sale!  Especially with these two!

There were lots of garage sales this weekend!

We loaded up on lots of goodies!

Sunday evenings are our family night, when we eat together and then watch America's Funniest Home Videos.  This Sunday Adam had to fly out of town for a meeting and Mindy was not able to come either, so it was just Jill and the girls.  The girls got out the playdough toys that we got at a garage sale.  (This ice-cream maker is one I had from before and it has been a big hit for our girls)

They played for at least a couple of hours!

A playdough ice-cream and cookie dessert.  Yum!

We had to interrupt them for dinner.  It was such a nice evening so we ate out on the deck.

When I was picking out plants for the porch this spring, Hannah requested that I purchase another "sensitive plant".    It really is cool.
When you touch the leaves, it folds up.

While the older girls are busy with playdough and outdoor play, Claire is learning to walk!

We will celebrate her first birthday in the new house.  A half hour away.

I think we will need to put more money in our gas budget.

Lately...

The kids' house is almost ready and a lot of people worked hard to make it happen.
The wallpaper was a booger!@#% to get off!!
Jill says they should outlaw wallpaper!

Since I used to wallpaper as a job, I ask for forgiveness to anyone I did!  Ha!

Adam's mom played with the children while we worked.

Papa put up the swing for Claire.

I didn't get photos of everyone who helped, but we sooo appreciated all who did!

Wallpaper is finally off the wall.

I painted Numbers 6:24 - the blessing - on their wall before painting over it.

Painting is now all completed!   (except for the basement, which will wait until after the move)  I'll try to get a picture of the finish another time.

The children have done so well during this whole time.  They LOVE their new house and are excited to move into it!  Such an answer to prayer!  It has been good to have a couple of weeks to just work on the house before the move.

Claire loves her "ba-booz" (babies)

Got the idea off someone's blog to print out some geometric coloring sheets - thanks!!  the girls loved that!

A beautiful sunset seen on our way back home.
