The journey

We love road trips.

And with the granddaughters on the swim team this summer,
we've been able to do a bit of "roading".

The Hays House where Jesse James was known to frequent.

Kansas is so beautiful!

A converted school bus used as a chicken coop!

We love the destination - being with the girls at their meets, but we sure do enjoy the journey!

We are on a journey in this life.
We are just "a passin' through".

Swimming

Have you ever thought about swimming - who was the first person ever to try it?
What made them think they could do it?

These cave paintings of swimmers were found in Egypt.

The Bible mentions swimming!

Isaiah 25:11

They will stretch out their hands in it,  as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim.  God will bring down their pride despite the cleverness of their hands.

Ezekial 47:5

 and Acts 27:42,43
The soldiers planned to kill the prisoners to prevent any of them from swimming away and escaping.  But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s lifeand kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land.

I just love Victorian pictures of swimmers!  What a hoot!

I guess she is learning how to swim.

The swim meets are just so fun to enjoy!

Mommy always packs lots of nutritious snacks!

She was so excited to pass up a boy!  At this particular meet, numbers were down due to holiday/vacations so there were combined teams.

 Encouraging them on -

At this meet, Mommy couldn't be there, but Daddy videotaped it for her and here Mommy is congratulating her.

It isn't easy for a 3 year old to spend time at the pool watching her sisters and not be able to get in the water too!

She found a friend to play with

"Nana, when I be on swim team, I get my face wet too."

The team won and the tradition is to push the coaches into the pool after the win.
