Friends

Today, my friend Kaori-san and I went to meet Chiyoko-san. Although Kaori and Chiyoko had "met" on-line, this was the first time they met in person.

We had lunch at a coffee shop in downtown Wichita. We had such a good time getting to know one another.

We went to a gallery where Chiyoko had her paintings.

What a good time we had!

Kansas Adventures, August; Part 3

When we were at the Botanica, we gave the children each a penny to throw into the wishing well. Hannah would not tell us what she wished for "I can't tell you!", but Sophia said "I was making a wish that you would take us to McDonald's for lunch!" Wishes come true with Nanas and Papas!
For the last part of our adventure, we took a stroll down Douglas in Wichita. There are some wonderful sculptures - 31 in all!

"We would like 2 chocolate shakes and hamburgers, please"

Big sculptures and small ones. We didn't see the lizard or swallow on planters or a skunk or hawk. We will have to go back another time to try to find more!

We are from a small town, no apologies, so these sky scrapers wowed the girls! Our downtown has 2-story buildings.

What a fun day we adventuring in Wichita, KS!

Sophia's birthday

Today is Sophia's 4th birthday!
Happy Birthday!!

We had a party for her yesterday.

Pin a smile on Hello Kitty.

Sophia is such a delight!
Loves to snuggle and give hugs.
Such a bubbly laugh too.
Smiles a LOT!!
(But can be pouty at times too. But at this age it is just a little cute!)
So giving and kind.
Loves to sing all the time!
Sensitive. A little reprimand, even gently given, will bring on tears.
In fact, so sentitive that she was in tears when we had to cut up the Hello Kitty cake! So worried about Miss Kitty and that we had to cut her up.

"The Lord is my strength and my shield
my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks
to Him in song."
Psalm 28:7

Sophia, that is one of my prayers for you. May you continue to bring Jesus much glory in your life as you look to Him as your strength and shield; as you trust Him. You will leap for joy (I'm sure quite literally) and sing to Him as you look to Him always!

Kansas Adventures, August; Part 2

This was our destination for the day.

We have been there for a couple of weddings, but not to browse around at all the flowers.

Sophia was very concerned that these cranes had been turned to stone, just like on Narnia.

The children's section just opened last week.

This was probably their favorite spot. They watered and watered and watered all the plants!

Even Papa joined in.

It was so very humid and hot. The kids loved the spray mist to cool them off!

When you dropped the little rocks into this box, it sounded like rain. There was something you could bang on to sound like thunder too. Wish rain and thunder would really come this way!!

Two very, very hungry children had a snack with the very hungry caterpillar!

The butterfly house was very fun! Butterflies fluttered all about!

I will post about the end of our adventure another day!
