On the road again!

Last month we took a trip to Arkansas and were able to be there for our grandson's baptism.  Now we were on the road again - this time to Wisconsin!  Adam and Jill were going on a trip to Door County to celebrate their 15th wedding anniversary and we were asked if we'd want to watch the girls.   OF COURSE, we'd LOVE to!

On travel day, we were out the door by 5 am.  We knew we would hit KC about rush hour so Al wanted to try a new route and avoid traffic.

Al thought we should try 92 across to 35.  It didn't have much traffic, that was for certain.  It probably didn't save time, but it is more relaxing!

When we stopped for gas in Iowa, we came across this restaurant!  We didn't stop to eat - I had brought along our lunch.
But we got a kick out of it because Eli calls his other grandpa by this name!

As we drove, we listened to a sermon on "Hallowed be Thy Name".  It was so good!  You can listen to it, or read it here.

In Iowa, we decided to take a little detour on an off road to avoid some construction.  The fun thing about 2 lane roads (versus interstate) is that you see interesting places.

Cute home!

One guy had multiple antennas in his yard.

We made the trip in 11 1/2 hours and surprised the family with an early arrival!  Before, it has taken 12 - 12 1/2 hours.   It was so good to see the family!

The next morning we went along to see where the girls went to school so we'd know how to pick them up after school and to drive them the next day.

Claire wasn't going to have school the next day, but it was fun to see where she went to pre-K!

We spent the morning going over instructions for the next few days.
After picking up Claire at noon, mommy and daddy were ready for their trip!

Have a good time!!

When the kids got out of school, we took a trip to the grocery store for some sugar bombs!  Not on mom and dad's list of instructions, but, you know.  Got to be spoiling grandparents!

Have you ever watched the movie "Parental Guidance"??  It is SOOOO funny!

Claire said "I'll just dream of swimming in this cereal."
