Cousins' Week - the Botanica

What kid doesn't like Legos, right?  When we found out that the Botanica had larger than life Lego sculptures, we knew we had to go!

It is part of a nationally touring art exhibit called "Nature Connects" featuring over 300,000 Lego bricks throughout the gardens.  The sculptures were created by New York-based artist Sean Kenney.

It almost looks like a pixelated photo!

I love all the bronze sculptures too!

This girl was getting her pictures taken, probably for her 15th birthday celebrating quinceaƱera.

This goldfinch sculpture uses the least Lego bricks, at 1,078 pieces.  Even the bird seed are Lego pieces!

This one uses the most at 61,372 Lego pieces!

Making music!

One of my favorites!

If you live in the Wichita, KS area, this exhibit is showing through September 19!  Go see it!!  The kids really enjoyed it!

Cousins' Week - arrival

Although summer isn't technically over until later in September, it is sort of over, isn't it?  School has begun for one set of our grandchildren, while the other ones start next week.

Earlier this August, we were able to have all the grandchildren to our home for Cousins' Week!  Cousins without parents who had their own plans - without kids!   Cousins and a dog!  A dog who loves his avocado toy!

Jill's family arrived first.  They drove in from Wisconsin and when they got here, they needed to get out for some exercize so we walked around the lake.

We made a Sonic run in the old fliver!

Jill had a class reunion so they came on Thursday, a little earlier than first thought.

Josh's arrived Friday night to drop off their kids, spending the night before driving back home.  Josh needed to be at church Sunday to work.

Adam and Jill weren't leaving until Monday morning, so we took all the kids to the Hillsboro pool on Saturday.

Claire has learned to put her head under water and to swim this year!

We were sure excited for the week to come!
Lots of activities planned!
