Off to the mountains

We had spent the day with Claire and Tenley while Hannah and Sophia went to visit a college.  That evening, we went out to Sam's Diner.

Jason stayed home with Tenley, who wasn't feeling well.

That evening, we made plans on going to the mountains the next day.  There are no mountains like these in our states of Kansas or Wisconsin.  We have hills, so we HAD to head to the beautiful mountains of Colorado!!  It IS commanded in Scripture afterall!  Haggai 1:8 says "Go to the mountain."  (Ok, taken out of context, but still, who can't go!?)

So the next day, we took off.  Mindy's family did not come as Tenley was still sick.  We went in 2 cars as neither one was big enough for all of us.  Hannah was sitting in the front seat of our car, so I gave her charge of the camera.

We had chosen to go to the town of Nederland for the day.  Next post...

Denver Aquarium

The next morning, Jill's dropped Claire off for the day.  They took the older 2 girls and went to visit a college.  How is it that my oldest granddaughter is thinking about college already???

Tenley enjoys walking around her bouncer, rather than being in it!  She has a "helmet" on in case she falls.  It won't be long until she begins walking.  She hasn't begun crawling yet, but our son walked before he crawled, so who knows!

They will have their hands full in a few months!!

We took Claire to the Aquarium.

We are familiar with sturgeon from going to the Sturgeon Festival in Wisconsin!

She loves sea horses!

There were a couple of divers in the tank doing some kind of fixing.

Claire was able to get inside a bubble so she would be "inside" the tank with the sharks.

Ugly fish

I thought the scales on this one was pretty!

I had never seen sword fish before.

Touching sting rays.

After the aquarium, we went to Mod Pizza (not Mod's, we were informed!).  They have a dairy-free one that Claire loves!

After pizza, we went next door for some gelato!

We met Mindy and Tenley at the neighborhood park.

One day, she will be climbing these jungle bars too.

Back at Mindy's place, Papa helped Claire with some school work.
It is Hannah's Spring Break, but it is not Claire's.

A fun day with our youngest grandaughters!

Back to Colorado

At the end of March, we drove back to Colorado.

It was a SUPER windy day!  We saw trucks struggling to keep from tipping.  We made sure to zip around them fast lest they fall on us!

There is a folklore that the start of March comes in like a lion with roaring winds.  But it is supposed to end with good weather, gentle, like a lamb.  I heard a theory about these symbolic animals; that Jesus' first appearance was as the sacrificial lamb, but He will return as the Lion of Judah!

In reality, this year almost all of March in Kansas was pretty much a growling, windy "lion" kind of month!

Our Wisconsin kids had flown out to Colorado the day before and the day we were traveling, they had visited Adventures in Odyssey at Focus on the Family and recorded a "show".

They also did some sight-seeing.

We were excited to spend a few days with both of our daughters and their families!

I enjoy the drive out to Colorado.

I love this kind of scenery!  Kind of looks like John Wayne movie sets.

We were so excited to get to Denver and see Tenley.  She was rather shy; not so anxious to see us.  "Stranger danger".  She has no idea how much we love her!  We just aren't able to see her regularly like some grandparents are.  Stinks living hours away.

I had to think how many people have this "stranger danger" with God.  Our Heavenly Father LOVES us SOOOOOO much and desires to draw near, but people think negatively about Him; don't want anything to do with Him.  Or fear Him.  But He desires relationship with us!  I would love to scoop Tenley up and play with her, but she always makes sure daddy or mommy are near by.  She doesn't really want us to hold her just yet.  Hopefully, this will pass.  She looks so happy in this picture!

(We think that toy by her foot looks like a "corona virus" toy!)

Would she warm up to us during our time in Colorado?
