When I grow up...

Jill came into town to grocery shop and left the two older grandkids with us.  Claire had a fever and her daddy was at home taking care of her.

The girls wanted to go on a walk around the lake and we always love to do that!

 This is Sophia's "thinking" pose.

The other day when Claire and I were walking around the lake, we sat on this bench.
She said, "Nana, when I grow up, can I be a doggie?"  (a man with a dog had just passed by)
"No, Claire.  Puppies grow up to be dogs."
"Nana" she continued.  "When I grow up, can I be a kitty?"
"No, Claire.  Kitties grow up to be cats."
"Nana...when I grow up can I be a bench?"
"Ha ha ha.  Oh, Claire.  You are so funny!"
"Nana...when I grow up, can I be a mommy?"
"Yes, Claire!  Maybe when you grow up you can be a mommy!"

I wonder what God's plans for each of my grandchildren will be?

I remember when my son Josh at age 3 wanted to be a trashman.  He LOVED to watch the trashmen come to do "their thing" with that big trash truck!  I told him that it didn't matter what he did when he grew up as long as he loved Jesus and followed Him.

Hannah:  "I'm going to try to jump over that puddle!"

 "Yahoo!"
 Sophia:  "Me too!"

What kind of snake is this?

Willard (the great blue heron to the left of the picture) and Edna (the great egret to the right)

Willard caught himself something.  Not sure what it is.  A fish of some sort I guess.

Edna is feeling left out.  "Won't you share?"

Willard and Edna are named after a sweet elderly couple in our church.  Edna had snow white hair and Willard has this little tuft of hair just like a heron does.

 Allen - ever the teacher.
