This past weekend we drove to Arkansas to see our Arkansas grandbabes.
The night before, there had been a lot of rain and a few tornadoes.
We felt like tacos for lunch, so we drove into Parsons to eat. As we drove by the golf course, we found that the green had become an island!
There was so much construction on 400 and the trip took us 6 hours!
But totally worth it to see these kids!
Josh's family fixed a fondue supper -
for the main meal, cheese with grilled chicken, zuchinni, potatoes.
For the dessert, melted chocolate with marshmallows, fruit and wafers.
YUM!
The next day, Josh and Staci had an alumni get together at their college, JBU.
So we had the children all day!
I took Emeri to their church office/warehouse.
They were going to have rehearsal for a little dance on Sunday at church.
While she practiced, I went across the street to Mama Carmen's coffee shop.
You should read about her story! Here.
I found a desk with a blue chippy chair -
a perfect place to do Bible study and to drink some coffee!
I picked up Emeri after an hour. We peeked into Josh's study.
(She was making a face for fun. She wasn't grumpy.)
When we got back to the house, the kids asked "What shall we do now?"
"Want to go shopping for your birthday presents?"
They were so excited about that!
We let them pick a place for lunch. Freddies was their choice!
We told them the restaurant was started by a guy named Freddy in Wichita!
After our tummies were full, off to get a movie at Red Box.
It was game day for the University of Arkansas.
They were playing Alabama.
There was just a little excitement in the air.
You think it is a real tatoo?
We picked out a couple of pumpkins for the kids.
And then they watched the movie we checked out.
Initially, we had picked this weekend to go to Arkansas to watch Eli play a soccer game. But due to the rain that had fallen, the field was too soggy to play on. So they did a pick up game instead.
Had a good visit with Staci's parents who live next door.
They got this very cool glider at Shipshewana, at the Amish market.
The following day, we got to watch Emeri dance with the We Worship team.
Too bad she was on the other side.
They had a family worship time between services so parents could see what the kids do during worship time in the children's Sunday School hour.
Leaves are just beginning to turn.
Beautiful Oklahoma skies!
A windfarm in Kansas.
When I was growing up, we saw our grandparents every 5 years.
Travel has changed a lot since the 1950's through '70's.
So it isn't so bad having the kids a 1/2 days' drive away, right?
