Along the road, Bran to Galati

It was an interesting drive from Bran to Galati.  A taste of Romania.

This reminded me of the Hollywood sign.

And another sign.

Communist era apartment buildings

This is actually a Farmer's Market and they have a web site and a blog!  (I found it out when I double checked what it was.  Didn't want it to be a "bad" kind of business I was posting!)

It was a LONG drive and jet lag set in.

A gypsy funeral

I had hoped we could visit a grave site when in Romania, but it didn't happen.  I like visiting old cemeteries!  Not in a creepy way, but in a historical, wondering about people in the past kind of way.

"For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die;
our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies.
Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed
into bodies that will never die,
               this Scripture will be fulfilled:
'Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is your victory?  Where, is your sting?'"                                          1 Corinthians 15:53-55

We stopped in the mountains at this little stream.  You could even get a drink from the mountain spring.  (comparing it to a clear Colorado mountain stream)

Not this stream, but clean spring water out of a pipe in the mountain.  Several tried it.  Al and I chose not to.  Didn't want to chance getting any "bugs".  Those who tried it did not get sick so I guess it was ok.

We stopped for gas, restrooms, snacks.  There are stray dogs and cats everywhere!  Sophia was missing Kobi and had to stop to give this pup a tummy rub.

My stomach was somewhat unsettled.  Look at the "serpentines" we drove through in the mountains.

We stopped at a KFC along the way.  They have interesting dipping fries.  See how they are shaped?  Maybe they have them here in the States too.  Don't know.

You order from a kiosk rather than from the counter.

A memorial for WWII vets outside Galati.

We arrived at dusk at the Emanuel church in Galati to meet our hosts for the few days we would be here.
