We arrived in Bran, Romania in order to tour the Bran Castle. Located in Transylvania, this castle is famous for the legend of the vampire Count Dracula.

Bran Castle's history dates back to the 14th century when it was built to protect Transylvania. Later, it acted as a customs point for entry into Wallachia. In 1920, Queen Marie received the fortress as a gift, who renovated it and turned it into this gorgeous castle.
Marie Alexandra Victoria of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha was born on Oct. 29, 1875 and spent her childhood years at Eastwell Park in Kent. She was the granddaughter of Queen Victoria of Great Britain and of Alexander II of the Romanov dynasty. She married Prince Ferdinand I of Romania at 18 years of age.

There were a lot of staircases in this castle!
Although Dracula is an imaginary creature, the man who created him named him after a real person - Vlad Tepes the Impaler. He was the Prince of Wallachia 1431-1476. He used cruel methods to punish his enemises. He was famous for beheading, boiling burning and skinning his enemies alive. They say that he continues to roam the shadowy halls of this "Dracula" castle.

We went down an elevator into an interactive tunnel.
Just a little creepy.
We were told that Elon Musk rented this whole castle out one Halloween for a cost of $87,000!
We ate at a restaurant on the property.
I had beet borscht
- a little different than my grandmother's recipe but still good.
And we sampled the funeral dessert - rather odd taste
Here is a video of the castle.
