Cousin time

It was the birthday of my 1st born grandchild.
We were going to have a family party at our house the next day,
but it was fun to go up on HER special day!

Emeri couldn't wait to give Hannah her gift - a watch in her favorite color!

Look how much she has grown!  I remember clearly driving 14 hours by myself to go see my first born!

It was a very nice day so the cousins went biking and scooter-ing.

Time for supper!  The birthday girl gets to choose the meal and Hannah chose pizza!

One nice thing about daylight savings is that it is still light enough after supper to play outside!

playing in the alley is the best!

especially in the dirt

The pastor had to hold a eulogy for a dead bird

Cousins were sad to see the day come to a close.  But there would be tomorrow!

To space and beyond!

After our "a little too chilly for it" picnic, we headed for the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center.   It is sort of remarkable that we have this located in the middle of Kansas.  A pretty cool place to go...

 ...especially for a little boy...

 ...and girl!

The kids got to experience wild winds.  Well, wild maybe for Arkansas.  For Kansas, I think 78 mph is probably a little too norm at times.

We watched the Jerusalem documentary.  We wanted the kids to see where their daddy and Papa are going in a couple of months.

A portion of the Berlin wall is there along with the history of how rockets came to be made.

Locating where Staci went on a medical missions trip to Africa.

Would you enjoy a trip to the moon?

I probably wouldn't, but it is fun to imagine!

Smith's Market

On Friday, we took the out-of-state kids to Hutch.
A fun place to go if you ever go to Hutchinson is Smith's Market.
It is not your average grocery store.

You can purchase produce, of course.

But I love their many choices of nuts, Chinese peanuts, edamame, soy nuts, and bulk candies that you used to purchase at the 5 & 10.

There are unique toys from the early days too.

Want to try some of these crickets?

I'd prefer this!

The park was just down the street so we took a sack lunch to eat there.

It was a little brisk and we ate FAST!  The kids wanted to play on the playground but they didn't complain about getting back in the van.   Brrr.  Next stop - the Cosmosphere!

Son's family comes

This past Thursday, our out-of-state grand kids came to visit.
The 5+ hour trip is a L-O-N-G time to be cooped up
so they needed to do a little exercise.

It is always fun to play in the play house under the steps

and read books with Nana.

A big weekend was planned.  More to come!
